Beyonce attended a press conference for the ‘Show Your Helping Hand Campaign’ at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX yesterday (July 4). She is pictured here with Pastor Rudy Rasmus of St. John’s Downtown Church. The campaign goal is to deliver more than 3.5 million meals to local food banks.
Beyonce also paid tribute to Michael Jackson during the 2009 Essence Music Festival. She played a private home video of her as an excited five year old, preparing to attend a MJ concert. Beyonce told the audience, “That night I saw my hero perform… when I saw Michael Jackson hit the stage, that’s when I decided who I wanted to be.” Then an image of MJ appeared on the big screen and Beyonce sang an altered version of Halo celebrating Michael Jackson.
Here are the words Miss Bey sang: “Michael I can see your halo, you know you’re my saving grace… Michael I can see your halo, I pray it won’t fade away… Michael, your music won’t fade away…”
