Jamie Lynn Spears apparently has a new boyfriend – a Louisiana businessman a decade older and a lot richer than her old one. Spears, 18, has taken up with James Watson, 28, after breaking up with Casey Aldridge, the father of Spears’ toddler daughter, Maddie, Star.com reports.
A source told Star the couple began dating in December after meeting a year ago.
“I don’t think James cares at all about who she is,” said the source. “They really seem to like each other.”
Watson is based in Hammond, La., near the Spears family estate in Kentwood, according to Star. His company, Advanced Multimedia Partners, installs communications equipment and hi-def TVs for corporations.
“James enjoys making money,” said the source. “And enjoys spending it, too.”
Spears, kid sister of pop star Britney Spears and the former star of Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101,” shocked her young fans when she became pregnant at 16 with then-boyfriend Aldridge. The couple eventually called off their engagement, but stayed together to raise their daughter.
But Aldridge, 20, is now back in his Mississippi hometown, leaving Spears to raise Maddie in Louisiana — and find love with Watson, Star reports.
A “friend” told the magazine that Spears and Aldridge had only stayed together for appearance’s sake.
“Even when she was pregnant, she didn’t really see a future with him,” said the friend. “She only gave the impression of staying with him so long because it looked better in the eyes of the public.”
