Jennifer Lopez’s split from Sony Music isn’t quite as amicable as she wants you to think: We hear that the mega-label flat-out dropped J.Lo.
So why did Jenny get kicked off the block?
Her two recent singles, “Louboutins” and “Fresh Out of the Oven,” were flops on the Billboard charts, all but assuring that her planned CD “Love?” would crash and burn, too. While her rep claims that Lopez’s contract was simply up and that it was a mutual decision not to re-sign, a source says Epic/Sony wasn’t willing to gamble on J.Lo.
But the diva isn’t taking the bad news sitting down: A music industry insider tells us that Lopez may try to release the album online now that Epic has shelved it.
“Epic technically owns the material from her album, so she needs to buy it back from them to have control over it,” the source says. “But she’ll try to release the album online if need be. It may be her last resort to take control of a poor situation.” Continue reading “Jennifer Lopez singles flopped so she was dropped“
For a decade, Lil Wayne has been hip-hop’s great unstoppable force, a 24-hour-a-day recording machine without an off button. But on February 9th, Lil Wayne will have to stop — for 12 months, when he reports to prison to serve a sentence for gun possession stemming from a 2007 arrest in New York City. Rolling Stone stays up all night with Weezy as he prepares to get locked down in our new issue, which is on sale at newsstands today.
“I don’t like to stop,” Wayne tells RS‘ Chris Norris. “I believe you stop when you die.” So in the weeks before he reports to Rikers Island, Wayne is keeping busy — recording tracks bound for Tha Carter IV (the album Cash Money staffers call “C4″ because it’ll be the bomb), shooting videos with his Young Money protégés, spending time with his growing family, and deliberately not asking anyone for advice about life on the inside. “This is Lil Wayne going to jail. Nobody I can talk to can tell me what that’s like,” he says. “I just say I’m looking forward to it.”
While Weezy’s away, his label is relocating to New York to be near him, and his manager Cortez Bryant is exploring ways to keep Wayne in his fans’ minds for the duration — from jailhouse Twitter accounts to endorsements. “I’ll have an iPod, and I”ll make sure they keep sending me beats,” Lil Wayne says. Tha Carter IV — which Norris is told features tougher, faster beats — is scheduled to arrive shortly after he gets out. source
If you ask Jay-Z who the next “King of Pop” is he’ll respond Usher. JAY-Z was so impressed with USHER’s tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, he’s tipped the R&B star to become the new KING OF POP. The Yeah! hitmaker joined Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson and Carrie Underwood to perform Jackson’s Earth Song at the annual awards ceremony. The 99 Problems star was watching from the audience at Los Angeles’ Staples Center – and he predicts a groundbreaking future for Usher. He tells Access Hollywood, “I thought the Michael Jackson tribute was fantastic and I thought Usher was doing a magnificent job. “I think he’s… He’s one of the guys that’s in line to, you know, fill those huge shoes. I don’t wanna put that pressure on him, but I think he’s one of the guys that’s in line to do that.” source
Ke$ha shot a music video for her second single Blah Blah Blah.
Want to know what Blah Blah Blah is all about? This is what Ke$ha says about the song:
I kind of take how guys talk to women all over this industry and throw it back at them. And they’re all getting their panties in a wad, and I think that’s hilarious. I’m literally just talking to a man the way any rapper talks about women in every rap song on the radio.
You decide if Pink is dissing Beyonce while she performed Stupid Girl in Liverpool. It appears that she took aim at Beyonce because she started doing Bey’s Put A Ring On It routine at the part that she mimic’s stupid girls.
