Did Barbara Walters ruin Ricky Martin’s career? She seems to think so. The veteran newswoman spoke with The Toronto Star about her 2000 interview with the Latino pop star. She now feels her line of questioning about his sexuality was “inappropriate.”
“In 2000, I pushed Ricky Martin very hard to admit if he was gay or not, and the way he refused to do it made everyone decide that he was,” Walters said. “A lot of people say that destroyed his career, and when I think back on it now I feel it was an inappropriate question.”
During the interview, Walters asks Martin what Gloria Estefan meant when she told him, “enjoy your sexuality,” and then goes so far as to ask him how exactly he is “enjoying it.” An awkward Martin replies, “I live la vida loca!”
Miley Cyrus has really been talking about Liam Hemsworth lately. First it was with Ryan Seacrest at the Oscars and now its with Teen Vogue for the April issue. Glad she dressed appropriately for this cover, obviously she didn’t pick out her own wardrobe. Now, moving on to Liam……
On Meeting Liam: “He’s really tall. I thought, Either I’m going to have to be in heels or standing on something for this entire movie! He definitely showed chivalry: I remember him opening the door for the director, and I was like, Wow.”
On Her Relationship With Liam: “I think we’re both deeper than normal people-what they think and how they feel. He’s very grateful for what he has, but he doesn’t let it go to his head. I’m like that too.”
Kendra Wilkinson talks about how she got over her bouts with postpartum depression on Chelsea Lately.
On her post partum depression: After giving birth, I never brushed my hair, my teeth or took a shower. I looked in the mirror one day and was really depressed. I thought, “Look at me!” I had this glamorous life in L.A., and now [in Indianapolis] I didn’t.
How she got through it: Being busy with the show, writing a book and taking time to work out again. And Hank has been great. I’m thankful he’s in my life. Both Hanks!
On Hank’s role in the house: I’ve heard of so many men who don’t really take care of the baby — it’s always the woman who does it. I feel for those women! I’m so lucky to have found a man like Hank. He puts in the 50 percent. It takes two to raise a child, and he realizes that. He wants to make sure our son knows he has a dad — unlike me. I had zero dad growing up, so it’s important for me, as well, to see that our son has a dad. On breastfeeding: Before I gave birth to my son, I said, “I’m not going to breastfeed. That’s something that I don’t really want to do.” But since I gave birth I loved it. It just happened so naturally, and he was so easy with it. Hank Jr. loved it, and I loved it. It just felt like I could shove it in people’s faces like, “Ha! I am the only one who can do this!” I felt that special bond with him that nobody else could have. There’s always the question, “Can you breast-feed with implants?” but I’ve been doing it and it has gone very well!”
Lil Wayne has finally been sentenced to a year on New York’s infamous Rikers Island after pleading guilty in a 2007 New York City gun case. He was taken away in handcuffs to start serving his term immediately after his sentencing. In October, he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon and admitted having a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus in 2007. With good behavior Wayne could be free in as little as eight months.

Donny and Marie Osmond will return to Las Vegas to continue their gigs starting on March 9. The brother and sister duo canceled the shows after Marie’s son, Michael, committed suicide on February 26. They will reportedly even make up the missed shows during their previously scheduled vacation in mid-April. The funeral for 18-year-old Michael Blosil was held in the family’s native Utah on March 8.
